Mute Math

For the past 3 years I have been following this band. I don't think they fully got the recognition they needed until they did the cover for the' Transformers' movie theme song, which was perfect for them. Their self titled cd came out in 2006 and had a very obscure sound. This is what makes them so unique. I never realized what these guys were made of until I realized what they truly made, not just their own eclectic taste of music, but making their own instruments. I've seen these guys live several times and they are a sight to see. I love entertainment and music. Never a dull moment with the boys of Mute Math. Here's a taste of how crazy these guys are:
[this is just the video]

And here's a taste of what is to be expected on their new album coming soon! I'm sure all of my audio buddies will appreciate this. These guys are recording most of this in a house... and in a bathroom. Can't get any better than that. Here is some of their VBlogs that you should watch in order to make sense of it all. Amazing.

ADELE

My apologies for not updating this blooming blog for quite sometime. People have been asking for new stuff and I haven’t gotten around to it recently. For those of you who don’t know, I just recently relocated to California to pursue my career. So far it’s been great! But for more info find my personal blog and you can read more!

So, here we go. I’ll start off with my long awaited blog about this woman. She's my new FAVORITE artist/ songwriter this year:

Introducing....

ADELE
"19"

The long awaited album finally hits the U.S. It's interesting to me to see how people react to new artists like this. There is something so unique about ADELE I can't quite put my finger on it. With the sounds of Etta James and poetic styles of Jill Scott, this is something young and old and everyone in between will love. I love seeing new artists emerge with such an unusual style and presence and knowing they're not in this business selling themselves as sex symbols and making money, they're simply in it because they heave the desire to make music and do what they love for their fans. I accidentally found ADELE on myspace back at the beginning of the year. Her album had not been released in the U.S yet, but it had just come out in the U.K. So I ordered her debut cd off of Amazon and received it a week later. I couldn't stop listening to this hidden piece of art and wonder why America hadn't caught onto it yet. Well months passed and iTunes had featured her first single, "Hometown Glory" as the "Free Single of the Week" pick. I couldn't believe it. about 2 months later, I heard her song 'Cold Shoulder' while I was standing in Old Navy. I had the biggest smile on my face. I felt like a nerd in love with somebody I couldn't have. So soon after I moved to L.A... and sure enough, I walk into Starbucks to get my frappuccino, and what do you know, ADELE was Starbucks free video Pick of the week. I was floored. Again... I had that stupid smile on my face. I was so excited. My sister and I had tickets to her opening show in LA at the Roxy to kick off her first ever US tour. It was thrilling. This beauty comes out with a blushed, full blown personality and sings her soul out. Amazing. She is just as good live as she is on her cd. Now that is a rare package right there. She's beautiful, embraces her full figure, sings her soul out, and melts all our hearts. She knows how to hit the spot.

“The whole album is about being between 18 and 19; about love, ‘Daydreamer’ is about this boy I was in love with, like proper in love with. He was bi and I couldn’t deal with that. All the things I wanted from my boyfriend, he was never going to be. I get really jealous anyway, so I couldn’t fight with girls and boys. It’s quite a sad album, [with songs about] being cheated on and not getting what you want”. ~Adele

This is by far one of the best artists from the U.K. in a while. Read more about her and check out her sites. Judge for yourself.

Henry Poole Is Here

I have to say I am truly curious and way excited about this movie. It premiered back in January at the Sundance Film Festival and surprisingly got a lot of great reviews, but bad ones too. Somehow it gravitated to the people at Overture Films because they bought out the movie and it is set to hit the big screen on July 25, 2008.

Many people think this movie was way out Sundance's element, but I have to say, there's a change coming and there are people out there that do recognize great talent and great work, not just the sex, foul language, violence, and all the other crazy things Hollywood has portrayed on screen.

I find it interesting that this film made it this far. After the Passion of the Christ movie, I wasn't sure what critics would have to say about this film. To me I find it refreshing and tasteful. Lets hope this movie will be that way after the previews.

Check it out for yourself, I'm sure this won't be the end of blahings about this movie, but as I said, I am very excited about it and can't wait to see what will be of this movie in the end.

There For Tomorrow signed.

So there's no other band I'd like to introduce first to you first than my boys from Orlando, FL. I had a rare chance to meet these guys and get to know a few of them one on one. There's no other band I have been more impressed with over the past years than There For Tomorrow. I first met Maika through a friend of mine from church back in 2006 when I lived in Orlando. I had been aware of this "up and coming" band but didn't realize how much they had grown into their own style of music until I saw them live at the Hard Rock Cafe with 9 other local bands. They blew me away. After 2 and a half years of anticipation and waiting for the right label to come along and pick them up... they FINALLY got signed to Hopeless/ SubCity Records. This Indie label has produced so many young artists to become successful for the future and also has donated their time, money, and energy to charities around the U.S. For the past 7 years they have kicked off what is called the Take Action Tour. Indeed, I say most of the rock bands I do listen to come or came from this label. I can't wait to see where they'll end up next.

"It was really hard to find a good home for our band. We had been doing it for so long by ourselves. Hopeless came to us with an honest perspective on the world, and that view is exactly how we see it. They have a whole philosophy behind their label that could make TFT feel so at home. They support the causes that me and the band fight for. We're willing to work hard and so are they. The future begins now!" – Maika {Hopeless Records News}

I have heard the stories behind the music and been blessed to have met these guys and see where their inspiration comes from. These guys are amazing and though it may not be pleasing to every ear, may you at least read some of the lyrics and see how powerful these song really are. Considering these guys just graduated High School.... They've learned a lot from life's challenges already, and express these emotions through their music. Very powerful stuff.

I can't tell you how proud I am of them. I can guarantee this; by 2009 these guys will be all over the radio, MTV, and VH1, I wouldn't be surprised if not sooner... but mark my word.... these boys are "up and rising" FAST! Check out their debut video for "Pages."
